Sort one shelf at a time

Choose a shelf small enough to finish in one session. Remove its contents and group similar items without blocking exits or access routes. Set aside anything that needs special handling according to its label or local disposal guidance.

Decide which items belong on that shelf based on how often you use them. Keep heavy objects on suitable stable storage at a manageable height. Do not overload shelves or improvise supports.

Label the groups and leave enough room to return things easily. Take a photograph of the finished arrangement. A completed small area is more useful than an entire room emptied without a plan.
